The majority of the thousands of Greek coasts are accessible providing the opportunity to discover and enjoy them and there are many organized beaches (with the necessary infrastructure providing high-quality services i.e. umbrellas, reclining chairs, changing booths, cafes, bar-restaurants etc.), where water sports can be enjoyed (water ski, windsurfing, diving etc). All organized beaches also have lifeguard towers ensuring safe swimming in the area. Many Greek beaches have been awarded the blue flag under the programme Blue Flags of Europe (404 beaches and 5 marinas).
