For the Love Birds...

It has been said that the sunsets in Santorini are the best in the world. From the Caldera breathtaking views of the volcano & neighboring islands. From the east, miles of dark sandy or pebbled beaches. Everywhere one sees small domed churches and remnants of days gone by.

The island of Santorini Greece or Thera is located in the Cyclades islands, in the middle of the Greek Islands of the Aegean Sea. It is, along with Mykonos and Crete, Santorini is one the most famous holiday destinations in Greece specially for the honeymooners. It is a barren, rocky island just opposite a volcano, with black and red beaches and towns situated on high cliffs offering breathtaking views and fantastic sunsets. Santorini has a dramatic beauty as opposed to lush and green islands.

Spectacular is a word often used in describing the Greek islands but it must surely apply more than most to Santorini. Visitors sailing into the flooded crater (or caldera) are greeted by dizzying cliffs with dazzling white villages plastered like dollops of cream on the sky-hugging rim.The white cube houses and blue domed churches may tumble attractively down the cliff side in the capital Thira but its streets are heavily developed with expensive cafes, trendy shops, and near nightmare swarms of tourists.

Most holiday visitors are here for the famous sunsets, viewed through a forest of heads and whirring cameras. The fumes from what is still an active volcano are responsible for those gaudy evening skies.
